They followed Bollmann north and a little east. Riss drove, but mostly because Keziah wordlessly got back in on the passenger side.

The chief had paused for a second when he saw Keziah. It might have been her beauty, or because he hadn’t known a second black wolf had come, or because they were both girls and cops tended to the macho. But Riss thought it was because Keziah was practicing being terrifying. Her smile owed a lot to Ezekiel’s scariest expression, probably not a coincidence, and her shadow was gathered up tight and dense around her. A human couldn’t see the shadow, but some people could feel it.

Then Keziah had nodded to them and gotten back into the car, and Bollmann let out a small breath, nodded to Riss without comment, and went to get his own car, an unmarked SUV that didn’t look a bit like a police vehicle and might be his private car.
